18 July 1999 - Dragon Boat Fun Day

The event consisted of 24 teams taking part in a dragon boat race at the Dockland Sailing & Watersport Centre. The 2,500 spectators were treated to a spectacular race and lots of other attractions such as fair rides, boat rides, bouncy castle, fun games and lots of food and drink.

This year to add to the Dragon Boat event, with the support of the UK Bungee Club, there was also a Chinese Bungee Jump event. One of the main attractions of this event was Mr Joseph Wu of Spectrum Radio participating in his first ever bungee jump for charity.

This event was generously sponsored by Hoo Hing and many companies operating within the Chinese trade to raise money for Chinese charities such as the UKFCS (UK Federation of Chinese Schools). This Charity publishes and distributes Chinese textbooks to Chinese schools all over the UK and also provides vital training and support to many Chinese teachers.

We would like to thank the London Chinatown Lions Club & UK Federation of Chinese Schools for organising the boat race.
